Last Call for Ethics Training
The Ethical and Legal Concerns in Social Work Practice workshop led by Anthony Sanchez, JD, LICSW, will be repeated on Saturday, July 18, 2009, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the NASW Headquarters Building, 750 First Street N.E. - 7th Floor Conference Room. This workshop was held in June and evaluations were very positive. Mr. Sanchez used the NASW Professional Code of Ethics and various federal laws and case examples to examine specific areas in which the social worker's decisoin may depend on understanding one's professional and personal ethics. Group discussion was emphasized along with lecture and discussion of personal experiences. The participants of the June workshop indicated that the session was very well done and Mr. Sanchez agreed to repeat the training after the chapter received several calls requesting another ethics class.
Anthony Sanchez earned his professional degrees in social work (MSW) and the Law (JD) from the University of Michigan. He is an attorney in good standing in Maryland and he is licensed to practice clinical social work in the District of Columbia. Mr. Sanchez is currently an adjunct faculty member at Germanna Community College in Virginia where he has taught classes in Family Law, Introductory Psychology, and Developmental Psychology. Prior to coming to the DC area, Mr. Sanchez was a licensed clinical social worker in California. He brings to this workshop over two decades of professional expereince including working in the field of child welfare. He frequently provides training to the DC child welfare agency and he has been a presenter at various conferences in the District of Columbia, Virginia, and California.
The workshiop has been approved for 6 CE contact hours and meets the ethics in-service training requirements for social work license renewals. The cost for NASW members is $90.00 and $120.00 for non-members. There is a $10.00 CEU Certificate fee. Lunch is on your own.
